Insurance Claims for Hail and Dent Damage
We bill your insurer directly for hail and dent claims, so you pay only your deductible. In Ontario and across Canada you have the legal right to choose your repair facility, regardless of which shop your insurance company recommends when you call.
The claims process is where most people lose control of their repair. You call your insurer, they give you a shop, and the assumption is that you go there. That assumption costs vehicles their factory paint every single day.
Their preferred network exists for a reason that has nothing to do with your car: negotiated rates. It is a perfectly legitimate business arrangement, and it is also not binding on you.
YOUR RIGHTS
- You choose the repair facility. Your insurer recommends; you decide.
- Choosing a non-preferred shop does not void coverage or reduce your entitlement.
- You are entitled to a repair that returns the vehicle to pre-loss condition.
- You can ask for the estimate in writing and get a second opinion.
- If the estimate undercounts the damage, a supplement can be filed — we file it.
- You can decline to claim at all if the repair costs less than your deductible.
How we run a claim
Bring us the vehicle and your claim number. We inspect under reflective lighting, produce a documented dent count and write the estimate in the format your insurer expects. You tell your adjuster you have selected Precision Dent Repair, and from there the paperwork is ours.
We deal directly with adjusters daily and know where estimates typically fall short — hail dent counts, panels needing R&I, aluminum labour rates. When the numbers do not cover the work, we supplement and negotiate rather than cutting corners on the repair.
You pay your deductible. We invoice the insurer for the balance.
Insurers we work with
We have billed essentially every carrier operating in Canada — Intact, Aviva, Desjardins, TD Insurance, Belairdirect, The Co-operators, Wawanesa, Economical, Allstate, RSA, CAA, Gore Mutual, Pembridge, Sonnet, Northbridge and many smaller regional and broker-placed carriers. If yours is not on that list, we have almost certainly dealt with them anyway.
When not to claim
Sometimes the right advice is to skip the claim. If your deductible is $1,000 and the repair is $600, filing costs you money and puts a claim on your record for nothing. We will tell you the repair number first so you can make that call before you phone your insurer.

What customers say
"When my vehicle was recently damaged by a severe hailstorm, it ended up with a significant number of dents across the body. After contacting my insurance company, I was initially referred to a general body shop. However, since this was strictly dent-related damage, I wanted to find a shop that truly specializes in paintless dent repair. That's when I came across Precision Dent Burlington."
"I had my brand new car destroyed by hail damage back in August. The car was covered in dents in pretty much all areas — roof, hood, rails, doors, trunk, quarter panel, fenders. I researched a few places and even went to another highly reviewed shop to get an estimate. The other shop started mentioning paint and parts."
"Andreas and his team were great! Very quick and transparent! Andreas was especially helpful in dealing with my difficult insurance in the process of getting the repair approved. Despite heavy hail damage, the car looks brand new now!"
"Great experience dealing with these guys. Very friendly and accommodative and their work is very impressive. Had them repair two BMW's with hail damage and they both looked new when they were done."
"I had several dents in my Yukon Denali after a major hail storm. Thanks to the efficient service of Precision Dent Repair, my vehicle looks as good as new again. I would highly recommend this company!"
"Great experience from start to finish, they accommodated my schedule and took care of everything through insurance. Easy process and repaired a ton of damage from a hail storm. Highly recommend."

Common questions
Do I have to use the body shop my insurance company tells me to use?
No. In Ontario and throughout Canada you have the right to choose your repair facility. The insurer's list is a recommendation tied to negotiated rates, not a condition of your coverage.
Will using your shop cost me more?
No. We bill the insurer directly at claim rates. You pay your deductible, exactly as you would at a preferred shop.
Does a hail claim raise my premium?
Hail is a comprehensive claim, not an at-fault collision, and it is generally treated differently by underwriters. Confirm with your broker for your specific policy and claims history.
What if the adjuster's estimate is too low?
That is common with hail, because dents are very hard to count without reflective lighting. We document the true count and file a supplement with the insurer. It is a routine part of the job.
What do I need to bring?
Your claim number, the adjuster's contact or estimate if you have one, and the vehicle. That is enough for us to take it from there.
